Construction Trade Skills

There are six construction trades featured by NSQF.

NATIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATION FRAMEWORK (NSQF)

The Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) formerly National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQF) is a system for the development, classification and recognition of skills, knowledge and competencies acquired by individuals, irrespective of where and how the training or skill was acquired. The system gives clear statement of what the learner must know how or be able to do whether the learning took place in a classroom, on-the-job, or less formally. The framework indicates the comparability of different qualifications and how one can progress from one level to another. The framework is the structure within which the National Skills Qualifications (NSQs) operate. The framework aims at promoting lifelong learning providing quality assurance and recognition.

Objectives of NSQF
1. NSQF is to ensure the quality, status, relevance and provision availability of Technical vocational Educational Training (TVETs).
2. Reduce the complexity and ambiguity of selecting a component person by industry.
3. Establish pathways and progression from informal short courses provided by various government agencies, NGOs and industry, to formal TVET program.
4. Narrowing the gaps between what TVET graduates know and can do and the skills and knowledge that employers say they need.
5. Overcome limited progression possibilities and demand for TVET that far exceeds supply.

NSQ ADMINISTRAION

The administration of NSQ comprise of three stakeholders, each performing distinct role and responsibilities. They are the Regulatory Body, the Sectors Skills Council and the Awarding Body.

The National Board dor Technical Education (NBTE)

The National Board dor Technical Education (NBTE) is a federal Government estabilishement under the federal ministry of Education which is responsible for advising and liasin with the government on all aspects of vocational and technical education.

Council of Reistered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON)

The Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria, CORBON was estabilished by federal Republic of Nigeria Act Cap No. No. 40 (formerly known as Decree No. 45 of 1989), and now established by BUILDERS REGISTRATION ACT CAP. B13LFN 2004.

The National Institute of Buildin (NIOB)

The Nigerian Institute of Building is the professional body for Builders and those who who are about to be engaged in the Building Profession.
